i have decided what to do for lent.
{thanks to best-friend-holly's mom pat for the suggestion}
time. tiempo. zeit. 时间;时
during the day it is the thing that gets away from me and the thing i most often waste. i miss-spend miss-allocate and miss-calculate the time i get. no more. for the next 35 days i will give up wasted time in order to do things that god loves - read scripture, create things, grow friendships and serve my family (read: clean-up the house). more succinctly, i plan to spend 20 minutes every day in stillness. btw, stillness is the antithesis to motherhood. and, just so you know i've never been good at mediation or stillness or standing in one place for very long. people have told me that i'm good at doing nothing. true. only, more accurately i'm good at doing nothing constructive. or better yet, i'm good at being lazy. sometimes lazy is good. especially when one's best friends and husband are more type-Aish - it's good to be the one that encourages days upon days of doing nothing but watching west wing re-runs. however, in preperation for easter i want to become a better steward of my time, along with creating an empty space through the discipline of stillness. let's see how it goes.
{{ here is one of the ways i plan on spending time }}
{{ first time reading the bible before bed with dad. totally cheesy cartoon board book, i know. totally made me get misty thinking of her future relationship with her dad, these stories, and this jesus }}
